Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is by using our online system.

You can, however, also order:

  • By Hand - fill out the repeat prescription request form that comes on the right-hand side of your paper prescription and bring it to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
  • By Post - send your request form to us, and include a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.

Please allow 2 working days for your request to be processed and for your prescription to be available for collection from Reception.

Please note that we are unable to accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Collecting your prescription

A number of local pharmacies will collect your repeat prescriptions from the surgery, meaning that you can simply collect your medication directly from the pharmacy, usually 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

If you want to use this service, you must first arrange it with the pharmacy concerned, so they have your consent to collect your prescriptions.  You must also inform the surgery so that we can release your prescription to that pharmacy for collection, otherwise the prescription will remain at reception for your personal collection.

NOTE: If you decide to change the pharmacy that usually collects your prescriptions, either temporarily or permanently, you must ensure you have carried out both of the above steps.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can often answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.  If your local pharmacy can't deal with a question or problem with your your prescribed medication, Reception can arrange for one of our Practice Pharmacists to speak to you, as they can solve most issues.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
